Voidokilias Beach

The Earthly Natural Wonder in the Shape of an "Ω" in Messinia

Voidokilia Beach is one of the most recognizable, photographed and beautiful beaches in the entire Mediterranean. It is located on the western side of Messinia, approximately 10 kilometers north of Pylos and 55 kilometers from Kalamata. Its perfectly semicircular shape reminiscent of the letter "O", the impressive sand dunes and its immediate proximity to the Gialova lagoon compose a setting of unparalleled natural beauty, protected by the Natura 2000 Network.
  • Type of coast: Extremely fine, white and golden sand from end to end, both on the coast and in the interior of the seabed. The waters of the Ionian Sea are crystal clear, azure, very shallow at the entrance and extremely calm, as the bay is almost enclosed and protected from the winds.
  • Suitable for: Lovers of pristine nature, photography, couples, but also families with young children due to the very shallow and warm waters. It is ideal for those who want to combine swimming with historical exploration, as the Paleokastro of Navarino and the Mythical Cave of Nestor dominate from above.
  • Infrastructure: The beach is completely unorganized in order to preserve the authenticity of the landscape. There are no beach bars, umbrellas, sunbeds, showers or canteens. It is absolutely necessary to bring your own umbrella, mat, plenty of water and snacks.
  • Access: Access is by road via a passable dirt road either from the village of Petrochori or around the lagoon from Gialova. At the end of the road there is a free parking area and then a short walk of a few minutes through the dunes is required to reach the shore.
