Mavrovouni Beach
Description
The Endless Golden Sands of the Messinian Riviera
Mavrovouni Beach (also known as Makrynammos or Kamaria from the nearby settlement of the same name) is one of the most impressive, famous and longest coastlines of southern Messinia. It is located just 1 kilometer west of the center of Finikounda, extending towards the road to Methoni. It is a magnificent, open sandy beach of approximately 2 to 2.5 kilometers long that starts after Kamaria and ends at the picturesque location of Anemomylos.
- Type of beach: Extremely fine, golden sand stretches along the entire length of the coastline, offering a smooth entrance to the seabed. The waters are crystal clear, crystal clear and transparent, with wonderful blue-green hues.
- Suitable for: Families, lovers of long walks on the sand and those looking for plenty of space. In the section towards the Windmill there are infrastructures and a special access mechanism (SeaTrac) for people with mobility problems.
- Infrastructure: The coast mainly maintains a more natural and pristine character. It is mainly free and unorganized, with the exception of some sections near the campsites or at the Windmill where selective beach bars operate. It does not have natural shade, so your own equipment is essential.
- Access: Easy by road from the Finikounda - Methoni provincial road, with free parking spaces at various points along the coastline.
