The Endless and Friendly Sand at the Estuary of the Pinios River
Boukas Beach (also known as Paleochori Beach) is one of the largest and most natural beaches in Ilia. It is located in the western Peloponnese, just 6 kilometers from the town of Gastouni and 5 minutes from Paleochori. It is an impressive, sandy coastline that exceeds 3 kilometers in length and is framed by low vegetation, tamarisks and sea lilies, welcoming the estuary of the Pinios River at its northern end.
- Type of coast: An endless, wide zone of fine, blond sand that extends to a width of about 30 meters. The waters of the Ionian Sea are crystal clear, have a moderate and smooth depth, making swimming extremely pleasant.
- Suitable for: Families with young children, due to the hospitable and safe waters. It is equally preferred by nature lovers and travelers seeking tranquility and direct contact with unspoiled nature, away from the crowds of bustling resorts.
- Infrastructure: The beach perfectly combines comfort with freedom. It is organized in its smallest part with basic infrastructure, such as sun loungers, umbrellas and beach bars, while it also has a recently renovated beach square. The largest part remains completely free and unorganized.
- Access: Very easy and direct by car via the road network from Gastouni or Paleochori. There is ample and free parking right behind the sandy beach, under the shade of the trees.
