Agiannakis Beach (or Ai Giannakis) is one of the most impressive, pristine and ecologically important coastlines of Messinia. It is located in the Municipal Unit of Avlonos, very close to the homonymous village and a stone's throw from Kalo Nero and Kyparissia. It is a vast, open beach washed by the Ionian Sea and surrounded by a unique, dense forest of pines and eucalyptus trees, offering a setting of absolute freedom and natural beauty far from mass tourism.
- Type of coast: An endless, wide strip of fine, golden sand alternating with small pebbles on the coastline and continuing evenly into the seabed. The waters are crystal clear, crystal clear, deepen relatively quickly and are cooled by the currents of the Ionian Sea, while the coast is consistently awarded the Blue Flag.
- Nature Protection: The beach is one of the most important nesting stations of the Caretta-Caretta sea turtle in Greece. During the summer season, the nests are carefully protected by the Archelon Association, while the coast is framed by beautiful natural dunes and white sea lilies.
- Suitable for: Nature lovers, campers, but also for those who love absolute tranquility and long seaside walks. Due to its location in the open sea, it is also ideal for surfing enthusiasts when westerly winds blow.
- Infrastructure: The beach maintains its free and unorganized character unchanged. There are no commercial beach bars with loud music, only a discreet, traditional canteen near the entrance that offers the absolute essentials. It is essential to bring your own shade equipment and water.
- Access: Very easy by car via the Pyrgos - Kyparissia National Road, following the road that crosses the beautiful pine forest. The road ends a few meters from the sand, where there is a comfortable and free parking space under the natural shade of the trees.
