The Diakopto Beach (which includes the central coast at the port and the famous Egkali Beach) is one of the most popular, picturesque and timeless summer destinations of Agialia in Achaia. It is located on the Corinthian Gulf, built in a privileged location that uniquely combines the seafront with the entrance to the impressive Vouraikos Gorge, approximately 15 kilometers southeast of Aigio and 54 kilometers from Patras. The great advantage of the area is the rich, green nature of trees and tamarisks that reach almost to the sea, offering an idyllic environment for all-day relaxation.
- Type of coast: A beautiful and extensive strip that is paved with fine, clean pebbles and gravel on the shore, which is followed by soft sand. Its waters are crystal clear, cool, crystal clear and constantly renewed, while the bay is "modest" and protected, keeping away strong winds.
- Suitable for: Families, groups, youth and travelers who wish to combine mountain and sea. The area is traditionally famous for its touristic character, as it is the starting point of the world-famous Cogwheel Railway to Kalavryta, allowing visitors to enjoy a swim immediately after their mountain excursion.
- Infrastructure: Excellently organized, constituting a summer recreation center. The coast (especially in the Egkali section) has umbrellas, clean sunbeds, showers and organized beach bars (such as the famous Koursaros and Tholotos), while also offering the opportunity for water sports. Along the coastal front and around the picturesque harbor, excellent traditional fish taverns, restaurants and cafes operate, as well as a multitude of rooms to rent and hotels.
- Access: Very easy, fast and direct. The journey from Athens takes less than 2 hours via Olympia Odos, while from Patras the distance is covered in about 45 minutes by car. The biggest advantage is that from the central station of Diakoptos there is a straight road that leads directly to the coast in a few minutes on foot, while ample parking is also available in the area.
