The Cosmopolitan Destination of Aegialia with Crystal Clear and Infinitely Deep Waters

The Akoli Beach (known to locals as Avithos) is one of the most famous, cosmopolitan and impressive summer destinations of Aegialia in Achaia. It is located on the Corinthian Gulf, constituting the seaport of the settlement of Rododafni, in an excellent location between Selianitika and Aigio, approximately 5 kilometers west of Aigio and 35 kilometers east of Patras. Its great characteristic, to which it owes both its names, is the fact that its waters deepen so abruptly that they give the feeling that the sea has no bottom ("bottomless" or bottomless), offering a unique swimming experience with an "island" backdrop.
  • Type of coast: A very large, open beach consisting mainly of fine pebbles and gravel on the shore, which is combined with crystal clear, crystal clear waters. The color of the sea changes impressively from light blue in the shallows to deep dark blue just a few steps from the shore due to the great depth.
  • Suitable for: Groups, worldly travelers and demanding swimmers who love to swim in deep and cold waters. Due to the depth, masks are considered an essential accessory, while the eastern side of the sidewalk is suitable for sports enthusiasts as it has beach volleyball and kite surfing facilities.
  • Infrastructure: Exemplarily organized with a modern street plan. Along the beautiful coastal promenade, numerous beach bars, cafes, modern restaurants and traditional fish taverns dominate, spreading their tables almost on the waves. The beach has umbrellas, sun loungers, showers, as well as a special SEATRAC mechanism for autonomous access to the sea for disabled people. There are also many rooms and villas to rent in the area.
  • Access: Very easy, safe and fast. The journey from Athens takes about 1.5 hours via Olympia Odos, while from Patras the distance is covered in about 30 minutes by car. The biggest advantage for drivers is the huge, free parking lot that operates next to the area's football stadium, ensuring comfortable parking even on peak days.
