Alissos Beach
Description
The Green Resort Oasis of Patraikos with the Wide Beaches
Alissos Beach (which includes the coastal front of Ano and Kato Alissos) is one of the most popular, green and timeless summer destinations in western Achaia. It is located in the Gulf of Patraikos, in a privileged location between Kaminia and Kato Achaia, approximately 20 kilometers southwest of Patras. The great advantage of the area is the rich, green nature of olive groves and reed beds that reaches almost to the sea, creating an ideal environment for relaxation, which extends over a total length of coastline of almost 4 kilometers.
- Type of coast: A continuous, wide strip that combines fine pebbles at the entrance and soft sand in the rest of its area. Its waters are clean, clear and constantly renewed. The seabed decreases at a relatively gentle rate, offering comfortable swimming.
- Suitable for: Families, couples and travelers looking for a quiet and quality getaway. The area is traditionally famous for its gastronomic characterRemote, as the seaside fish taverns serve fresh fish daily on the waves.
- Infrastructure: Very well organized. The beach has umbrellas, sunbeds, beach bars and showers. In the heart of the beach there is a famous restaurant, which offers direct access to the beach and organized high-end facilities. Organized campings and rooms to rent operate in the wider area.
- Access: Very easy, fast and direct. The journey from Patras takes just 15-20 minutes by car via the Patras - Pyrgos National Road. The biggest advantage is that the beach is served in an exemplary manner by the Patras Suburban Railway (with alighting at Alissos or Kaminion Station), as well as by the Intercity Bus. Ample free parking is available.
