Dexameni Beach

Concrete Platform Dives in the Turquoise Waters of Mani

Dexameni Beach in Limeni is the most well-known and functional swimming "spot" in this historic Mani settlement, which is just 5 kilometers northeast of Areopoli. As Limeni does not have a classic beach with sand or pebbles, Dexameni at the western end of the village offers a specially designed concrete platform and stone steps that allow smooth and direct entry into the dazzling, deep and crystal clear waters of the Messinian Gulf.
  • Type of coast: Completely rocky area without sand. Access is exclusively via the artificial platform/concrete dock and stone steps, with the waters being deep, clear and distinguished by their impressive turquoise and deep blue hues.
  • Suitable for: Experienced swimmers, snorkeling and free diving enthusiasts, as well as those who want to live the authentic Limeni experience. Often, in the shallows and around the buildings, the local, famous sea turtle Caretta-Caretta appears.
  • Infrastructure: The spot is unorganized in terms of classic amenities (it has no umbrellas or sun loungers), but is located a stone's throw from the center of the settlement. On the coastal road, there are excellent fish taverns, cafes and restaurants.
  • Access: Easy by road from Areopoli following the downhill road to Limeni. Parking along the narrow coastal road is difficult and requires special attention or walking during the high-season of August.
