Gialova Beach

The Family-Friendly and Cosmopolitan Coast of the Gulf of Navarino

Gialova Beach stretches along the beautiful seaside settlement of the same name, which is just 8 kilometers north of Pylos and about 50 kilometers from Kalamata. Also known as the “gastronomic village” of Messinia, Gialova offers an extensive sandy beach that uniquely combines ecological importance (due to the neighboring lagoon) with the luxurious, cosmopolitan aura of the modern high-end resorts of the area.
  • Type of beach: Light-colored, compact sand on the shore and very shallow, crystal-clear waters that warm up quickly. Due to the natural curvature of the Bay of Navarino, the sea is unusually calm, almost always without waves. From the coast one can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in Messinia with a view of the island of Sfaktiria.
  • Suitable for: Families with small children, as the waters are extremely shallow, warm and safe. It is also preferred by those who want to combine their swimming with good food, as well as ecotourism enthusiasts who want to explore the unique wetland with flamingos and the rare African chameleon.
  • Infrastructure: Fully organized in many parts. The coastal promenade is full of neat cafes, beach bars and excellent traditional and gourmet taverns that spread their tables literally on the waves. There are sun loungers, umbrellas, showers, while in many places on the coast the trees offer rich natural shade.
  • Access: Very easy by car via the Pylos - Kyparissia road network. The coastal road is located just behind the sand, offering comfortable and free parking along the entire length of the coastline.
