Giannitsochori Beach

The Endless Sandy Beach with the Dense Pine Forest on the Borders of Ilia and Messinia

Giannitsochori Beach is one of the most idyllic, quiet and "low-key" seaside destinations in southern Ilia. It is located in the Municipality of Zacharo, 11 kilometers south of Zacharo and 17 kilometers north of Kyparissia. The great advantage of the coast is the impressive, lush green pine forest of Giannitsochori that extends along it, offering rich natural shade and a unique feeling of coolness just a few meters from the wave.
  • Type of coast: A vast, vast space covered by fine, golden sand on the coast and fine pebbles in the interior of the seabed. The waters of the Ionian Sea are crystal clear, crystal clear and very shallow in the first few meters, making the sea ideal and safe.
  • Nature Protection: Due to the excellent quality of the sand and dunes, the coast is an important nesting site for the Caretta-Caretta sea turtle, with their nests being diligently protected during the summer season.
  • Suitable for: Families with young children due to the shallow waters, but also for nature lovers and campers. It is the ultimate destination for those who want to relax under the shade of the pine trees reading a book away from mass tourism.
  • Infrastructure: The beach perfectly combines freedom with basic comfort. It has some organized sections with umbrellas, sunbeds, lifeguards and beach bars, while it is famous for the organized Camping that it hosts. Most of the coastline remains completely free.
  • Access: Very easy by car via the Pyrgos - Kyparissia road. The road reaches a few meters from the sand, where there is a comfortable and free parking space under the trees.
