Golden Sands Beach
Description
The Endless Exotic Strip of the Gulf of Navarino
Golden Sands Beach (known mainly as Golden Beach or Divari) is one of the most impressive, unspoiled and long coastlines of Messinia. It is located a stone's throw from Gialova and just 10 minutes from historic Pylos. It is a magnificent strip of land approximately 4 kilometers long, which "embraces" the Gulf of Navarino, offering panoramic views of Pylos and the island of Sfaktiria, while right behind it stretches the great wetland of the Gialova Lagoon.
- Type of coast: Wonderful, fine golden sand stretches from one end to the other along the coastline and continues to the seabed. The waters are crystal clear, clear and azure, while they deepen extremely smoothly, making the sea look like a huge natural swimming pool.
- Suitable for: Ideal for families with small children due to the very shallow waters and the absence of strong currents. It is also preferred by those who love tranquility and long walks by the sea, as well as water sports enthusiasts (such as windsurfing). During the summer, the coast is a refuge for the nesting of the Caretta-caretta sea turtle.
- Infrastructure: The beach is located within a Natura 2000 protected area and maintains its pristine character. For the most part, it is completely unorganized, so it is necessary to bring your own equipment, water and snacks. However, in certain places there are organized beach bars with sun loungers, umbrellas and water sports infrastructure.
- Access: Very easy by car via the road that passes through Gialova. The road leads along the beach, where there is ample and free parking, often under the shade offered by the tamarisk trees. At the end of the beach (Pearl Passage) the path that leads to Paleokastro and the beach of Voidokilia begins.
