The "Golden" Coast of Surfers in Western Messinia
Lagouvardos Beach is one of the most impressive, vast and recognizable coastlines of Trifylia. It is located on the western side of Messinia, just 3 kilometers north of Marathopolis and 7.5 kilometers from Gargalianoi. Its trademark is the huge "golden" sandy beach surrounded by rocks on the right and left, while on its northern side the river of the same name flows out after crossing a lush, winding gorge.
- Type of coast: A beautiful, wide strip of fine, golden sand that extends for about 2 kilometers. The waters of the Ionian Sea are crystal clear, crystal clear and deep. Due to its geographical location, the beach has the highest frequency of waves in Greece, without however having dangerous sea currents.
- Suitable for: An absolute paradise for water sports enthusiasts, especially Wind Surfing and Board Surfing, attracting surfers from all over Europe. At the same time, due to its large area, it is ideal for families, groups and those looking for moments of relaxation.
- Infrastructure: Very well organized during the summer months. On the coast there are neat beach bars and canteens that offer umbrellas, sunbeds, showers, cool cocktails, as well as the possibility of renting surfboards for visitors. It also has huge free sections for your own equipment.
- Access: Very easy by car, as the beach is located next to the coastal road that leads from Filiatra to Marathopoli. There is a comfortable and free parking space just a few meters away from the sand.
