Memi Beach

The Endless and Quiet Golden Sands of Koroni

Memi Beach is one of the largest and most impressive sandy beaches in southern Messinia. It is located on the western side of the Messinian Gulf, just 2 kilometers outside Koroni. It is essentially the natural continuation of the famous Zaga Beach, forming with it a huge, single coastline that extends for many kilometers. Memi stands out for its calmer and more relaxed atmosphere, as it is located slightly further from the main part of the city.
  • Type of beach: Fine, crystal clear golden sand stretches along the entire length of the coastline and continues evenly into the seabed, without stones. The waters are crystal clear and deepen relatively smoothly, while due to its orientation you may get waves when southern winds blow.
  • Suitable for: Travelers looking for tranquility, comfort and plenty of space. It is ideal for families with children who want to play in the sand, but also for those who love long coastal walks. The beach, due to its quality, is also an important nesting site for the Caretta-caretta turtle.
  • Infrastructure: It perfectly combines organization with freedom. In some parts of it, there are neat beach bars and taverns that offer umbrellas, sun loungers, showers and good food. However, most of the beach remains completely free, offering absolute isolation even in the heart of August.
  • Access: Very easy by car via the main road network leading to Koroni. There are several side roads that descend towards the coast, leading to comfortable and free parking spots just behind the sandy beach, under the shade of the trees.
