Kourkou Beach is a corner of the Laconian landscape unknown to many, ideal for those seeking an authentic, alternative experience. It is located in the small stone settlement of Mezapos, tucked between two towering, imposing cliffs. This natural cove resembles a miniature fjord, where traditional fishing boats moor in crystal-clear waters.
- Coast type: There is no conventional sandy or pebbly beach. Access to the water is via the rocks or a small concrete jetty. The waters are deep, pristine, and crystal-clear, boasting a magical turquoise-green hue.
- Suitable for: Lovers of adventure, diving, and seclusion. It is considered a top destination for snorkeling, as the site features two impressive sea caves for exploration. Not recommended for young children due to the lack of a shallow shoreline.
- Facilities: Completely unorganized. However, there is a traditional tavern/café right above the swimming spot, allowing you to enjoy the view and head down for a dip. There are a few stone-built accommodation options in the village.
- Access: Very easy by car. It is located 18 km south of Areopoli (towards Gerolimenas). You can park freely in the settlement and walk to the water in less than a minute.
