The Exotic Destination of Aegialia with a Large Pool and a Green Background
The Pounta Beach (also known as Trebbes Beach) is one of the most charming, cosmopolitan and popular summer destinations of East Aegialia in Achaia. It is located on the Corinthian Gulf, right next to Diakopto, below the picturesque village of Trebbes, approximately 18 kilometers southeast of Aegialia and 55 kilometers from Patras. The area's great advantage is its impressive, lush natural backdrop, as the bushy mountains of Aegialia rise directly above it, creating an enclosed, exotic setting that resembles a huge and deep natural pool.
- Type of beach: A large, open strip characterized by pure white pebbles on the shore, which keeps the sea perfectly clear. Its waters are crystal clear, turquoise, quite cold and deepen very sharply (just two meters from the shore), offering a high-quality and refreshing swim. The beach is consistently awarded the international Blue Flag.
- Suitable for: Groups, demanding swimmers and travelers looking for an "island" setting on the Greek mainland. Due to the steep depth, the beach requires increased attention and supervision for families with small children. In the afternoon, Pounda offers one of the most beautiful sunsets in the Northern Peloponnese.
- Infrastructure: Very well organized, without losing its free character. The beach has organized sections with sunbeds, umbrellas, showers and disabled access infrastructure. Along its length, there are famous shops, as well as traditional taverns for fresh fish and local cuisine on the beach.
- Access: Very easy, fast and direct. The journey from Athens takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes (165 kilometers) via Olympia Odos, with the beach being just 200 meters from the Pounta - Kalavryta junction. From Patras, the road trip takes about 45 minutes. Ample parking is available, although on summer weekends there is a large influx of people and early arrival is required.
