Xylokastro Beach (with its most famous section, Pefkia Beach) is the absolute flagship of tourism in western Corinth. It is located on the Corinthian Gulf, within the seaside town of the same name. The absolute trademark that makes it unlike any other coast is the unique, protected coastal pine forest of Pefkias. The forest extends for 1.7 kilometers, with the trees starting right where the waves break, offering a stunning natural shade, coolness and a rare combination of emerald colors.
- Type of coast: A beautiful and extensive coastline covered with fine pebbles, coarse pebbles and sand zones. Its waters are crystal clear, deep, crystal clear and turquoise, while the coast is consistently awarded the Blue Flag of Xylokastro-Pefkia for the excellent quality of its waters.
- Suitable for: Families, groups, couples and nature lovers. It offers an all-in-one experience, as the visitor can combine swimming with hiking or cycling on the shady paths of the forest. In addition, it has a SEATRAC system on the deceptive coast of Sykia for autonomous access for people with disabilities.
- Infrastructure: Over-organized but with huge free sections under the pine trees. It has modern beach bars, umbrellas, sun loungers, showers and a lifeguard. Within walking distance, there are top-notch accommodations, as well as dozens of cosmopolitan cafes, restaurants and traditional fish taverns along the coastal promenade.
- Access: Very easy and fast. It is approximately 120 kilometers (1 hour and 20 minutes) from Athens and 95 kilometers from Patras. The journey is by road via the Athens-Patras National Road, while it is served exemplarily by the Suburban Railway (Xylokastro Station). Parking is available, although in August due to the cosmopolitan traffic, patience is required.
