The Endless Golden Sands with the Magical Sunset
Zacharo Beach is one of the largest, cleanest and most impressive beaches in all of Greece. It is located in southern Ilia, in front of the homonymous town of Zacharo and approximately 30 kilometers south of Pyrgos. It is an immense coastal front washed by the Ionian Sea and ideally combines the pristine, protected environment (Natura 2000) with the modern summer comforts of an organized resort.
- Type of coast: An endless, wide zone of fine, golden sand that extends for many kilometers, forming beautiful natural dunes. The waters are crystal clear, crystal clear and gradually deepen, with the beach consistently awarded the Blue Flag every year.
- Suitable for: Families with children due to the clear waters and ample space to play, but also for young people, groups and water sports enthusiasts. It is also famous for the breathtaking Ionian sunset, as the sun literally sets into the sea.
- Nature Protection: Like neighboring Kaiafas, the coast is surrounded by a beautiful coastal pine forest, while the golden sand is an important nesting site for the Caretta-Caretta sea turtle.
- Infrastructure: Very well organized. In various parts of it, there are neat beach bars and cafes offering umbrellas, sunbeds, showers and changing rooms, while there are lifeguards and a beach volleyball court. Due to its enormous size, it also offers vast free areas for absolute tranquility.
- Access: Very easy by car via the Pyrgos - Kyparissia National Road. A straight road connects the town of Zacharo with the beach, ending in a very large and free parking area a few meters away from the sand.
