Asini

Asini in Argolis—a beautiful, historic village of distinction within the Municipality of Nafplio—is a traditional settlement built at the foot of an egg-shaped hill (crowned by the small church of Prophet Elias) and surrounded by vast, fragrant orange and olive groves. Located just 8 kilometers from Nafplio and a stone's throw from cosmopolitan Tolo, the village inextricably links its present to the glorious past of Ancient Asini. A key landmark of the area is the seaside archaeological site of the Acropolis of Ancient Asine at Kastraki—a fortified location featuring Cyclopean walls that has been inhabited since the 5th millennium BC. Mentioned in Homer’s *Iliad*, the site inspired Nobel laureate Giorgos Seferis to write his world-renowned poem "The King of Asine." Today, Asine offers an ideal blend of authentic rural life in the Argolis region, warm hospitality, and easy access to pristine beaches such as Kastraki and Plaka, making it a unique destination for every visitor.
