Tiryns, one of the most imposing and world-renowned historical destinations in the eastern Peloponnese, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Municipality of Nafplio (Argolis). Built atop a low, rocky hill in the heart of the Argolic Plain at an elevation of 25 meters, it rightly stands as one of the most significant centers of Mycenaean civilization. A landmark of the area is its legendary Cyclopean Walls; according to mythology, these were constructed by the giant Cyclopes from Lycia at the behest of King Proetus, as the massive, unhewn limestone blocks—weighing many tons—evoked the admiration even of Homer, who described the city as "wall-girt." Today, Tiryns captivates visitors with its magnificent archaeological site; beyond the imposing walls, the site features the Great Palace with its unique floors, the famous vaulted galleries (*syrigges*), the *propylaea* (monumental gateways), and the ruins of the Mycenaean Lower Town extending around the acropolis.
