Ancient Corinth

Ancient Corinth, one of the most imposing and historically rich settlements of the northern Peloponnese, is a vibrant village of the Municipality of Corinth built at the foot of the imposing rock of Acrocorinth at an altitude of 80 meters, which rightly attracts global interest as it is the direct residential continuation of one of the strongest and richest city-states of the ancient world. A reference point of the area is the emblematic Doric Temple of Apollo of the 6th century BC with its monolithic columns that dominate the archaeological site, as well as the Step of the Apostle Paul, where the "Apostle to the Nations" apologized during his stay in the city. Today, Ancient Corinth enchants the visitor with the harmonious coexistence of the modern picturesque settlement and the ancient monuments, offering a beautiful pedestrian street full of traditional cafés and taverns, as well as an excellent Archaeological Museum with priceless finds. With its trademark, the adjacent, gigantic medieval castle of Acrocorinth that crowns the area and is considered the oldest and largest castle city in the Peloponnese, it is a top destination for lovers of archaeology, religious tourism and alternative tours.
