Feneos

Feneos, one of the most imposing and alpine traditional settlements of mountainous Corinth, is a historical site of the Municipality of Sikyonia built on a beautiful plateau between the Ziria and Helmos mountains at an altitude of 1,000 meters (Ancient Feneos), which has rightly been described as the "Corinthian Switzerland" due to its unique natural beauty that strongly resembles a Tyrolean landscape. A point of reference of the area is its mythological connection with the god Hermes, who was worshipped here, as well as the famous Feneos sinkholes, a rare geological phenomenon that in ancient times regulated the waters of the plain, creating or disappearing a huge natural lake. Today, the area enchants visitors with its picturesque, stone villages, traditional taverns with famous local products (such as Feneos PDO vanilla beans) and, of course, the beautiful artificial Lake Doxa, which reflects the fir-covered peaks of the surrounding mountains. With its trademark, the historic three-story Monastery of Agios Georgios from the 14th century, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the lake and is famous for its handmade rose spoon dessert, it is a top destination for lovers of nature, gastronomy and alternative activities, such as trekking, lake cycling, horse riding and mountaineering.
