Elos

Elos, Laconia, is a historic and vibrant settlement in the southern Peloponnese, situated in the heart of the fertile Eurotas River valley. As one of the most productive agricultural areas in the Municipality of Eurotas, the village is renowned worldwide for the exceptional quality of its citrus fruits, with vast orange groves dominating the lush green landscape. Elos possesses a deep historical heritage reaching back centuries, as the wider area is identified with the Homeric city of the same name and is considered the place of origin of the "Helots" of ancient Sparta. Today, the settlement retains its authentic, welcoming character and serves as an excellent base for visitors, as it is just a stone's throw from the protected Evrotas Delta and the beautiful, quiet sandy beaches of the Laconian Gulf, such as nearby Kokkinia.
