Corinthia

Solomos

Solomos, one of the most vibrant and strategically situated settlements in the semi-mountainous region of Corinthia, is a beautiful village within the Municipality of Corinth. Built to the west of the Oneia Mountains at an altitude of 102 meters, it rightly attracts visitor interest thanks to its authentic hospitality, rich agricultural tradition, and close proximity to the area's major historical landmarks. A key feature of the village is its long history, which dates back to the period immediately following liberation from Ottoman rule; indeed, official records show it being incorporated into the then-Municipality of Corinth as early as 1897, ...while its broader geographical location has long served as a pivotal point along the national road connecting Corinth with Argos and the rest of the southern Peloponnese. Today, Solomos captivates visitors with its tranquil rural atmosphere, well-kept homes, and the vast, lush green olive groves and vineyards that surround it, while also offering breathtaking panoramic views of the imposing rock of Acrocorinth and the Corinthian Gulf. Its signature feature is the renowned and well-organized Solomos Climbing Area, located on the northern side of Tsoumba Hill —featuring excellent-quality grey limestone and ideal routes for both beginner and experienced climbers— as well as direct access to the archaeological site of Ancient Corinth, the settlement is a premier destination for enthusiasts of nature, relaxation, and alternative activities such as rock climbing and hiking.
