Xylokastro

Xylokastro, the cosmopolitan and stately city of northwestern Corinth and seat of the Municipality of Xylokastro - Evrostina, is one of the most historic and popular tourist destinations in the Peloponnese, built along the lace-like shores of the Gulf of Corinth. Known as the "green shore of the Corinthian Gulf" that inspired great poets such as Costas Karyotakis and Angelos Sikelianos, Xylokastro is world-famous for its emblematic Pefkia, a rare, protected natural coastal pine forest that stretches along the pebbled beach with crystal-clear, deep waters. Today, the city uniquely combines the feel of classic family holidays with a modern air, offering a beautiful coastal promenade bustling with cafes, beach bars and excellent taverns, an organized marina for pleasure boats, as well as great sights such as the historic, three-story Villa of Sikelianos in neighboring Sykia and the magnificent Metropolitan Church of Agios Vlasios travelmyth.gr. Due to its strategic location, the city is the ideal base for excursions to the mountainous Trikala of Corinth and the ski resort of Ziria, while offering very easy access from Athens and Patras.
