Lower Achaia

Lower Achaia (also known to the locals as Achaia), the vibrant and robust capital of the Municipality of Western Achaia, is an important commercial and agricultural town in the northwestern Peloponnese, built in a privileged location near the mouth of the Pireus River and just 20 kilometers from Patras. The city carries a rich historical heritage, as it is located near the site of ancient Dymi, one of the most important cities of the Achaean League, while in more recent times it has played a significant role in the economic development of the region through the production of fine agricultural products, such as wine, oil and vegetables. Today, Kato Achaia is a dynamic center with a rich market, large squares with cafes and traditional taverns that are bustling with life, while its strategic location next to the Patras - Pyrgos National Road offers direct access to its picturesque port, the beach of Alyssos, the civil airport of Araxos, as well as the magnificent National Park of the Strofylia forest with the exotic beach of Kalogria.
